This Manual informs about the standard IEC 61131-3.

The IEC 61131-3 standard is the basis for uniform PLC programming that enables the user

• to use already tested and standardized software components again.

• to apply software engineering methods for the generation of these components.

• to consider problem solutions from a complex point of view.

• to abstract complex tasks in smaller modules.

• to define interfaces unambiguously.

• to transfer progams more easily to other systems.

The programming languages used in the Drive PLC Developer Studio meet the requirements

of the IEC 61131-3 standard.

In many cases, the Introduction also lists the international terms (

in italics in brackets

)in addition to

theGermanterms.
